It is with broken hearts, we announce the passing of our father, Gifford William Tynes on October 19, 2020 at age 64. Born in Danvers, Digby County, Nova Scotia, he was the youngest child of the late Frederick Alexander and Mildred Florence (Cromwell) Tynes. We can imagine the joy in paradise with Gifford reuniting with his son, Little Gifford and grandson, Ryan. He will be lovingly remembered by his children: James (Ashley), Chantel and Tianna. Cherished Grandfather of Tyree, Tyrome, Breayla and Ceanna (Mummies): Great-grandfather to Nevaeha and Ryanne. Surviving brothers: James and Bertram (Dianne) and sisters: Pauline, Carol and Arlene. Nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. Gifford worked 31 years for Mega Construction as a heavy equipment operator. The perfect occupation for a kid-at-heart who loved digging in the dirt. Gifford was a loyal friend. A person you could depend on and place your confidence in. He enjoyed family outings to the Valley to pick blueberries, apples and take on the challenge of the corn maze. Magic Mountain was a favorite where he loved the water slides especially the Kamikazi. Like any kid-at-heart, he loved playing in the snow and building snowmen with the kids. He was a good sketch artist and liked watching Bob Ross. He enjoyed the challenge of assembling model cars and puzzles. Gifford enjoyed the peace and tranquility of being in his canoe on the lake fishing. He taught Ryan and the girls to fish. I’m unsure who was prouder as one by one they were able to catch their first fish. He loved taking the kids to the lake for swimming. He would sit on the big rock with his bucket of Sobeys fried chicken. He loved to be one with nature. He would take Ryan with him rabbit hunting and if he didn’t catch a rabbit he would bring home a squirrel. At Christmas time, he would take the kids out and chop down a Christmas tree. He refused to pay the outrageous price of a Christmas tree from a lot on the corner. He patiently swept the tinsel over every branch it was painful to watch the sweeping motion of his arm over and over and over again. He was an avid sports fan. His preferences were football, basketball and boxing. Gifford belonged to the Spryfield Bowling League for many years and won numerous trophies. He loved playing card games especially whist and hearts with his siblings. Scrabble and backgammon were also favorites of his. He enjoyed watching western and samurai movies as well as Disney movies with the kids. Gifford collected and read comics. He was a backyard mechanic. He took pride in being able to repair his own vehicles and those of his friends. He was not a fan of new vehicles because of all the computer modules, which made it harder to repair yourself. He disliked taking his vehicle to a garage for repairs. Animals loved him and he was the purrfect cat sitter. Gifford was the man to call if you had a mouse. Gifford started every day with his Tim Horton’s small black 3-sugar coffee and reading the newspaper. He was like the neighborhood grandfather because he talked, joked and took an interest in people’s lives. They will all miss him. Last but not least, Gifford was an accomplished master napper in his later years. Gifford was predeceased by his son Gifford William Tynes Jr. and grandson Ryan White-West; brothers: Frederick and Ronald; Sister: Martha, Valma, Doris and Norma. Special thank you to Janet Lethbridge for all her assistance and guidance during this difficult time. A celebration of Gifford’s life will be held Monday, October 26th, Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax at 11 a.m. In compliance with current Covid-19 related restrictions, the chapel can only hold approximately 60 people when applying social distancing standards. The family requests the attendance of immediate family and close friends; however, the interment will be taking place at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Sackville Drive, Lower Sackville where we can gather in larger numbers at approximately 12:30 p.m. Reception to follow.

Love and miss you already dad ❤️
You were my strengths my guidance thru this crazy place they call “ earth”
They say god has a plan for everything, but once again here I am wondering why could come good from this
Besides making me a stronger women and mother to our baby girl cee
Oh how I’ll cherish all our memories we shared and the almost three years you got to build memories with ceanna she will always know how much her papa loved her . Just like I’ll always know how much you loved me , a father daughter bond that is still unbreakable.
I have yet to let it all sink in & I don’t know if it ever will . All I know is that one day again I will see you and I can’t wait to hear the words “ give me a hug boo “ I hope you are having fun up there with ry and giff ❤️ You are no longer physically here with us but I do have comfort knowing that you are no longer in pain and you are back with your loved ones you have missed for years
Until we meet again , I love you and may you rest peacefully in paradise you were and still are a true king xo
