

CARVERY, Gordon Garfield Sr., 80, Halifax died peacefully Saturday, July 25, 2015. Born in Africville he was a son of the late Harry and Viola (Paris) Carvery. He had worked on a salt boat, at Halifax Ship Yard, DND Dock Yard , the Raulston Building, and was a Crossing Guard. He enjoyed Baseball, Hockey and was an avid harmonica player. Survived by his children: Carlos, Yolanda, Melita, Marcella, Gordon Jr., & Gary; brothers: Leo & Garnet (Ella); sister: Rayola; Special brothers: Leonard Sparks & Curtis Mansfield; Step children: Fances, Loretta, Leonard, Ernest, Carolyn; eight grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many step grandchildren, and nieces and nephews. Predeceased by: the love of his life, Vera Mae Diggs, Daughter Manita; Stepson Arthur, Step daughter Linda; Brothers: Earl, James, Vernon, Freddy & Harold; Sisters: Rosita, Regailia, Christine. Visitation will be held Friday, July 31, 2015 from 2-4 & 6-8 pm. The funeral will be held Saturday at 1pm both in Cruikshank's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Rev. Dr. Rhonda Britton officiating Burial will be in St. John’s Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Canadian Cancer Society.
