OBITUARY

Heather Anne Pelly

October 11, 1956October 11, 2020

Taken too soon, it is with great sadness that Heather’s family announces her sudden passing on October 11, 2020, age 64, at her home in Dartmouth. Born in Halifax October 11, 1956, she was a daughter of Anne and the late Hubert Hartling. Known for her big smile and great sense of humour, she will be deeply missed by her family and friends.

Heather was a graduate of Queen Elizabeth High School and attended Mount Saint Vincent University. She worked for many years in the health care sector as a medical secretary, spending most of her career with Atlantic Dermatology Consultants. In later years, she became a skilled gardener and was often found (with her loyal feline companion, Bling, in tow) weeding and adding new colourful flowers and plants to her ever-evolving backyard oasis. She was also an avid reader, talented baker, music enthusiast, and animal lover with a particular soft spot for cats, dogs, horses and raccoons.

Heather is survived by her mother, Anne; husband, Christopher Pelly; daughter, Laura Pelly (Bernie Tremblay); son, Andrew Pelly; grandsons, Austin and Ashton Pelly; and her extended family. She was predeceased by her father, Hubert; brother, Gordon Hartling; and sister, Paula Hartling.

A family and friends service will be held on Monday, October 19 at 3pm from Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax with the Reverend Katie Taylor-Flynn officiating. Interment to follow in Fairview Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Epilepsy Canada or a charity of choice.

To Heather's family
I was shocked to read Heather's obituary. We last communicated on the 7th. Gordon and I have known Heather close to 20 years. We shared lots of our life's ups and downs. Heather with her humor, gift for words and insights could make us smile. We traded books, drank tea, traded cat and dog stories and shared buying lottery tickets all fun focused. We will miss her so. Blessings to each of you.

Heather was a great friend and a not too far away neighbour of mine when we attended Gorsebrook School together. We had a great group of girlfriends. We shared many good years growing up together. She loved my poodle Mitzie, as you can see in the photo attached. Heather was exactly the same age as I am and we had birthdays only a week and a half apart from one another. I remember how close our birthday parties always were.
I now live in Vancouver and a mutual in Nova Scotia contacted me this am to pass on the sad and unexpected news of Heather's passing. It has rekindled several fond childhood memories and the regret of loosing touch with one another. I will always remember her very pleasant manner and lovely smile.
I am sorry for the loss of a woman who bought such joy to her friends and family. I want to send my sincere condolences to her family.

Chris, Laura, Andrew, and Family,

I am in shock about Heather no longer here. She has been a dear friend to me for years. She would find the funniest card to send for a birthday. We would call one another before the Kentucky Derby and say some day we would go together. She was a wonderful woman and will be missed by many. I know you have a smile on your face Heather.
