

Brown, Helen Gertrude,86, of Hatchet Lake passed away Friday August 3, 2012 at home with her loving husband Edward by her side. Helen was the daughter of the Late Mary Maude Walker. Helen had suffered with dementia for the last 8 years of her life. It was a long sad struggle for Helen, Edward and her family. She was a kind, loving and very quiet woman who raised her children and looked after many of her grandchildren. Helen was a member and one of the original founders of the Hatchet Lake Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary and was a life time member of St. James United Church Ladies Auxiliary in Goodwood. Helen was the mother to Edward(Linda)-Halifax, John-East Gore, Ronald(Donna)-Whites Lake, Stephen(Cathy)-Hatchet Lake, Mike(Maxine)-Terence Bay and daughters Theresa Broussard-Whites Lake and Sandra Collier(Bill)-Bedford. She was the grandmother to 11 and great grandmother to 12. Helen was predeceased by brothers Ronald, Douglas and Kenneth Walker, her two sisters Marie Flynn and Vivian Wilson as well as her grandson Andrew Brown, daughter in law Margie Brown and son in law Bernard Broussard. She was the last remaining member in her immediate family. Visitation will be held Wednesday August 8, 2012 at 2-4 and 6-8 at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home at 2666 Windsor St. Halifax. The funeral service will be held at 11am Thursday August 9, 2012 at St. James United Church, Goodwood with Reverend Helene Burns officiating followed by the burial at Sunrise Park Cemetery, Hatchet Lake. A special Thank You to all the VON nurses who assisted Edward in the care of Helen. A big Thank You to Mary Connors of Capitol Health for all her assistance and kindness to Helen and Edward. Another Thank You to Dr. Harris Crooks, Helens doctor and family friend.
