It is with sadness that we announce the passing Henry Arthur Bennett of Timberlea, N.S. Art passed away peacefully on January 19, 2022 at Queen Elizabeth II Hospital at the age of 83. He is survived by his wife Sheila and grandson Matthew Bennett (Calgary), brother Harold Bennett (New Brunswick) and sister Myrtle Thomas (Ontario).
Art was the son of the late Henry Ellsworth Bennett and Myrtle Viola (Pelton) Bennett of Canning, N.S. He was the brother to Harold, George (deceased), Mrytle and Wayne (deceased).
Art was a graduate of Mack Business College. His career began with Simpsons-Sears followed by the City of Halifax as a property assessor and then with H.W. Longard Enterprises. Upon his retirement, he and Sheila, accepted an invitation to join Christian Record Services to serve in the visually impaired community in Nova Scotia. They dedicated their full time to promoting and serving the blind of the province. A highlight of their service was an annual blind camp held at Camp Pugwash. Their many accomplishments were recognized by Christian Record Services and they received several international awards.
In May of 1962, Art and Sheila (Loxdale) were married in Halifax, N.S. and shared a loving and devoted life together. They had one son Dale (deceased), and a grandson Matthew.
Art was a member of the Halifax Seventh-day Adventist Church. He personally lived a daily life of fellowship with his Lord and fervently looked forward to a reunion in heaven with the family he loved and those he served.
In his own writing he expressed his perpetual love and care for Sheila and concern for her. He also stated he would prefer a family viewing and a burial at the Habitant Cemetery in Canning, N.S.
