

Hartling, Hubert Gordon, 79, of Halifax, passed away March 1, at the QEII VG site. Born in Liscomb, NS he was the son of the late Orion and Gladys Hartling. Hubert loved the outdoors spending much of his time hunting, fishing, gardening and golfing. He was happiest in the company of his family and many friends. He will be well remembered for his quick wit, his amazing sense of humor and his finished carpentry skills. Hubert was a long time member of Ashburn Golf Club and in his later years he established, as well as enjoyed, the crib club at Ashburn. He was very well-known in the office equipment business, working many years with Seaman Cross, and later operated his own company, Hartling Agencies, as a manufacturers agent. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Anne (Bailey), daughters Heather (Chris) Pelly, and Paula; sister Gladys (Rene), brothers Orion (Judy), Albert (Sharon); grandchildren Laura and Andrew; as well as many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his son, Gordon. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 5th at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax from 7-9 pm. Funeral service will take place Tuesday at 1:00 pm from St. James Anglican Church (at the rotary), Rev. Rod Gillis officiating. Burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.
