Tolliver, James John (Woody) of Africville, passed away peacefully at the QEII Health Science Centre on June 9, 2018. Born on November 18, 1944. He was the son of the late John and Evelina (Dixon) Tolliver.
John served in the Canadian Army in 1962. He worked at CN Railway, Metro Transit and the IWK Hospital. One of his greatest accomplishments was winning Golden Glove Boxing Award two times. John was an incredible father and grand-father. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor, kind-spirit, and loving heart.
John is survived by his sons, Terrance (Kelly), Chris, John (Manny), Jason, Jonathan and Jermaine; daughters, Tracy (Raymond), Sonya (Johnny) and Jill; 18 grandchildren 4 great-grandchildren and many nephews, nieces and cousins. Sisters; Mae, Eileen (Feenie), Patricia and Denyse and special friend Doreen. Predeceased by son Justin, grand-daughter Cassandra and sisters; Ethel and Alice.
Visitation will be held Sunday June 17th from 6-8:00pm with a Going Home Service to be held Monday June 18th , 1:00pm both in Cruikshanks Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St; Halifax,. Minister Thornton Williams, officiating.
Memorial donations can be made to Horizons Baptist Church (formally Cornwallis Street Baptist Church) building fund.
