

Beazley, Kenneth Matthew age 97 of Bridgewater, formerly of Halifax . Passed away December 9, 2016 in the South Shore Regional Hospital, Bridgewater. Kenneth was predeceased by his loving wife Marjorie, of 74 years; he was born in Halifax, N.S. on October 8th, 1919, son of the late Roland and Rita (Marguerite Murphy) Beazley.
He received his education in Halifax and joined the Canadian National Railway in 1939. For the next 39 years, he served as Station Agent in Truro, Halifax, Pictou, Wallace and Mahone Bay. He then moved to Yarmouth, where he took on responsibilities as Port Agent & General Manager for CN Marine. In 1975, Ken moved to Moncton to assume Operations Officer duties for CN Marine, retiring in 1978.
He served as a member of the Knights of Columbus for many years and was on the Town Council and School Board in Mahone Bay. Ken had a great love for gardening and was known by all who knew him for his healthy sense of humor. Ken was a loving and devoted husband to his wife Marjorie, as well as a caring father and grandfather, always there to help his children through any challenge.
He is survived by his daughter Carol (Terry) Miller Calgary, sons David (Crystal) Halifax, Paul (Linda) Thunder Bay, Gregory (Susan) Bridgewater and Michael (Carolyn) Halifax. He also leaves 10 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. His wife, parents and his brother William predeceased him.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to the staff and volunteers of Ridgewood Retirement Centre, Bridgewater, for providing a home, excellent care, understanding and friendships. Also thank you to Dr. Greg Jansen and the doctors, nurses and staff of the Emergency Department and the Nursing Unit 4A at South Shore Regional Hospital for their compassionate and comforting care for Dad in his last days.
Visitation will be 6-8pm Tuesday, December 13, 2016 in Cruikshank’s Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Halifax .Funeral service will be held at 10am Wednesday December 14, 2016 in St. Thomas Aquinas Church, 1725 Oxford St., Halifax. Interment will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery in Lower Sackville, N.S. at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society, Canadian Diabetes Association, Canadian Parkinson’s Foundation or charity of choice.
