MINTIS, Kenneth Owen - 51, Halifax. It is with great sadness that we the family of Kenneth announce that our wonderful gentle giant went to be with His Lord. Our beloved Kenny passed away suddenly at home on November 27, 2008. Born to the late Wilbert and Daisie (Cox) in Halifax, he was a former employee of St. Mary's University and a former Air Cadet. He was a very gentle man who spent his days with the people in his community and with those he loved and with whom he felt comfortable. A man of few words, there were times when Kenny could not be silenced. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved our gentle giant. Never having married, he was greatly loved and respected by all of his little ones in the family (as he called them). Community-minded, he could be seen standing in front of his building greeting all people as they passed by. He would share his insight of the happenings of the day with his neighbors and all who spoke to him. Kenny is survived by his brothers, Ernie (Jeanette), and Richard (Colleen), Toronto, Ont.; Dennis, Halifax; sisters, Marcella Shears, Laura (Bengt) Jonnson, and Joyce Watson, Halifax; Sharon (Reaba) Cox, Toronto, Ont.; Ola (Andrew), Ottawa, Ont.; uncle, Herman (Maude) Cox; aunt, Margaret (Jean-Paul) Houle, Halifax; aunt, Muriel Dawes, Montreal, Que.; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews. Cremation to take place under the direction of J.A. Snow Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Visitation today from 5-8 p.m. A service will be held at 2 p.m., Tuesday, December 2, in Cornwallis Street Baptist Church, Rev. Rhonda Britton officiating. Burial at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Cornwallis Street Baptist Church. On-line condolences may be sent to: [email protected]
