MIGAS, Louis — 83, Halifax. It is with deep sadness and broken hearts that we announce the passing of Louis Migas, husband, father, brother and grandfather. He died peacefully at home in his sleep on November 16, 2012. Louis was born in Paparis, Greece to Christos and Maria Migas on June 20, 1929. He was a police officer in Greece for several years before he came to Canada on November 10, 1958. He married Martha Kakamousias on November 30, 1958 whom he loved dearly through 54 years of marriage. He owed the Tasty Food Restaurant on the corner of Birmingham and Morris Streets in downtown Halifax with his brother, George, for over 30 years. Through the restaurant they met many people whom they still call friends today. After his retirement he enjoyed long drives throughout Nova Scotia with his wife. In the more recent years, with his deteriorating vision, he could no longer drive but would be seen walking daily all over Halifax, challenging his pedometer then bragging about it. One of his regular stops was to deliver food and coffee to his daughter, Maria, at work. He enjoyed going for coffee and little outings with his son Chris. Louis was extremely proud of his grandchildren; they were his pride and joy. He forever had a pocket full of candy and loved to share it with everyone he came across. He had a deep faith in God and was a member of St. George's Greek Orthodox Church. He is survived by his wife Martha (Kakamousias); daughter, Maria (Louis) Tasiopoulos; son, Christos; grandchildren, Veloudo Anna, Martha, George (Meredith Dignan); brothers, Vasilios (Panayiota), George (Tasia) and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Christos and Maria Migas; father and mother-in- law, George and Konstandina Kakamousias and brother-in-law, Gerasimos Dimitropoulos. Visitation will be 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, November 20 in Cruikshank's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St., Halifax. Funeral service will be held 12:00 pm ( Noon) Wednesday, November 21 in St. George's Greek Orthodox Church, Purcell's Cove Road, Halifax. Rev. Panayiotis Maropoulos officiating.
