

BURNS (McDonald), Margaret Teresa — Passed away peacefully on December 29, 2010, at the age of 85 in Toronto. She is survived by her daughter, Joan Margaret Burgwin (Burns); son-in-law, Steven Burgwin, of Pickering, Ont.; grandsons, Thomas, Gregory, and Nicholas Burgwin, of Pickering Ont.; her sister, Marie Campbell (McDonald); brother-in-law William Campbell, of Ottawa; her nieces and nephews, Anne Kurylo (Killin), of Concord, Calif.; James Killin, of Pointe-Claire, Que.; Janet Stewart (Campbell) of Sterling, Va.; and Scott Campbell, of St. Albert, Alta. She was predeceased by her husband, Harry Francis Burns, of Halifax; her brothers, Hugh, Patrick, and James McDonald, of Halifax; her sisters, Joan McDonald, of Halifax; and Claire Killin (McDonald), of Montreal, Que.; and sister-in-law, Mary McDonald (Chisholm), of Antigonish. Peggy, as she was known to family and friends, was born in Halifax and was an Alumni of Mount Saint Vincent University. Peggy married Harry Burns in 1950 and moved to Quebec and later to Ontario. She remained in Ontario for the rest of her life, living in Toronto, Sault Ste. Marie, and Ottawa, but frequently visited her family and friends in Halifax. Peggy was kind and generous to all and will be sadly missed. Visitation will be held on Monday January 3, 2011, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m in Cruikshank's Funeral Home located at 2666 Windsor St. A funeral mass will be held at St. Mary's Basilica on Tuesday January 4, 2011, at 10 am. Interment will be in Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, Lower Sackville, following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Canada.
