Kevin by her side. She had only been ill a short time with an aggressive form of cancer.
Nancy was the youngest of five children born to Hilda Smith (Settle) of Halifax and H. Sydney Smith of
Nottingham England. While in her twenties she met Frank Arsenault, the love of her life, and
wed in 1974. Her life revolved around her immediate and extended family. The house always
had a dog, most notably over the years were Rebel, Randy and Kilo. Her favourite pastimes
were going to the dance with Frank, listening to country music, Christmastime, and having
dinner with her sisters.
Nancy is survived by her son Kevin, grandson Nicholas McAvoy, sisters Jean and Sheila, brothers Robert “Bobby” and Alan “Mickey” (Beverley), as well as many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband Francis “Frank” in 2011, sister in law Bernadette Smith, brothers in law Donnie Fulton and Frank Burke and her parents.
Due to the restrictions imposed during the Covid 19 State of Emergency, a memorial service will be held at
a later date. Nancy’s family will forever be grateful to her niece Susan Horton for her efforts
during this difficult time. Arrangements are under the direction of Cruikshank's Funeral Home,
Windsor St, Halifax.
