I was Bob's roommate at St. Dunstan's (now UPEI) in our senior year (1965-66). I had known him previously as the brother of my best High School buddy, Lawrence Britton (now deceased). Lawrence was the intellectual and Bob was the rather quiet, unassuming little brother. The Britton household was my favorite hangout. The Brittons were like an uncle and aunt to me and I took sister Estelle to my senior Prom. Being a pianist, Mr. Britton wouldn't let me go until I had played "Danny Boy" and "English Country Garden" for him on their living room piano on Dollard Street in Outremont (Quebec). The Brittons took off for B.C. and I took off for Texas c.1070 but they left me with some of my happiest memories. By the way, Bob was a good roommate, quiet and considerate. He is a man that evidently succeeded in life because he had a heart. I will always remember him fondly.

Dear Paulette & Family,
So very sorry to hear of Bob's passing. You were truly blessed to have had him in your life for 51 years. Prayers and thoughts are with you at this difficult time.
Sincerely, Diana

This morning has been a very tough one for me, as I grapple with the sad news about Deacon Bob's passing.

I remember first meeting Deacon Bob, just over 5 years ago in the foyer at Saint Mary's Cathedral Basilica in Halifax. He treated us to a great conversation and I recall being so impressed by his incredible wealth of knowledge on many diverse topics. I was later honoured to spend time with him on the Pastoral Council as we worked on multiple projects. Deacon Bob was always humble and cordial even when he disagreed on something. Very friendly and thoughtful in his endeavours. His passing is such a huge loss to our Parish and I can only imagine how hard it must be for his beloved family.

For me, just reading about his obituary today has been such a painful experience and I want to extend my deep condolences to her beloved family.

Indeed, dear Deacon Bob, as many of us were attuned to your signature style in closing the Mass, I'm so saddened to say it like you would... Go in peace Deacon Bob, Go in peace.

May your beautiful and peaceful soul rest in the bossom of our Lord Jesus Christ, we'll miss you dearly.

Dear Paulette and family,

My sincerest condolences on the passing to Eternal Life of Bob. I received the news through AST and it was a shock to me. I wasn't aware that he had been ill.
May the memories of his dedicated love and service to so many in the Halifax Archdiocese and throughout his life be a consolation to you all. He will be missed greatly.
May the angels lead him into paradise to be in the loving embrace of God's love in the communion of all the saints.
I will remember him in the Eucharist today.
     Sincerely, Charles P sj

Dear Paulette,

I am so very sorry about the loss of Deacon Bob. Bob was incredibly kind to me over many years. I always appreciated his outreach to the marginalized. Wishing you peace at this difficult time. Prayerfully, Beth McIsaac.

My deepest sympathies for your loss. I met your husband at Cobequid Ctr.,in November 2015. My husband Paul, and Archbishop Mancini were waiting for a procedure. Paul said maybe he could bless the room when he went in, because he was first. Bob explained about a family procedure that he went through and said it was a success for his brother.
This touched Paul and I quite deeply, and his words were comforting while Paul waited for his turn.
I felt we were blessed by the presence of these two men, sadly 2 years later my husband lost his fight. But the waiting area conversation was one of those “ Close Encounters” that made me at least feel closer to God.
Thank you, Bob
Carolyn

To Bob's Family

We came to Halifax in 1988 to work with women on the street who were interested in recovery from addiction and abuse. Within the next thirteen years we opened (with our boards) Exodus House and The Marguerite Centre. Bob was such a support and help to us in both of these ventures. As Community Service director he made sure that we had a per diem that enabled Exodus House to open and move forward. He was a just and compassionate man.

When The Marguerite Centre opened Bob was with the Diocese and generously (within his budget) gave us funds for a program or a piece of electronics that we might have needed. Every time we met Bob it was a graced moment. Bob greeted you in the moment...you were the most important person at that time. He was open, humouress, knowledgeable and sincere.

It is with sad hearts that we regret not being able to attend his wake and funeral as we are out of the country. Our prayers go out to you his family and all of his friends. Bob kept God at the centre of his life and God now has welcomed Bob home into the fulfillment of that life.

Deepest sympathies to you & your family Paulette. Bob was a special man who worked effortlessly on behalf of so many people over the years. A great loss to the church. He will live on in your thoughts, words & actions. Your special angel is now looking over you. Prayers for you .

Sorry I can't attend the funeral as I have a specialist's appt during the same time. You will certainly be on my mind during that time. May God's peace be with you during this difficult time

To Aunt Paulette and family,

My sincere condolences on your loss. Uncle Robert was so kind, gentle and a fantastic listener. He will be remembered fondly in the Lefurgy Household.

Dear Paulette:
Please accept my sincerest sympathy on the passing of Bob - he was a fine person who gave so much of himself to others!
As, I am away, I will be unable to attend his service; however,be assured you and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers 🙏

Dear Paulette and Family....Special Remembrance in Sympathy and Prayers.

I had the privilege of being a colleague of Bob during his years at the City of Halifax. Our paths crossed again in recent years when we worked together on projects for the Diocese. He was a kind, caring and thoughtful man, deeply committed to his community and Church. My condolences to his family at this difficult time.

What seems like a lifetime ago, I was a Social Service Worker for the City of Halifax and Bob was my Director. He was a kind and caring person, advocated on behalf of clients and worked diligently to improve the system for all. Becoming a Deacon was such a perfect fit for him and he'll be missed by more than we'll ever know. His humility and kindness knew no bounds.

As part of my “Alpha” group at St. benedict’s Church Bob was a great contributer, supporter and a wealth of knowledge. He shared openly and empowered others. Bob will be remembered for his altruism and sense of humour. My condolences to the family at this time of loss.
