

Rose Charlene (Rhoda) Carvery, age 59, Ottawa died May. 12, 2017 peacefully at home. Born in Africville a pillar of our family, She was a daughter of Edward Bayfield “Naddie” Carvery and the late Bernadine “Ming” Carvery. She was very instrumental in her daughter’s development and success. She worked at the Citdel Inn doing laundry service. She spent most of her life in Ontario, where she helped raised family members children as her own.
She loved to spend time with her many girlfriends just “hanging out”.
She enjoyed most of her time with her brothers and sister, but was most happy to be with her granddaughters who she visited often in Toronto. She is survived by long-time companion David Wicks,Ottawa ,daughter Vendia,(Aiteka), Toronto, Son ,Eben Carvery, Halifax. Sisters, Marie(Izzard) Carvery, April both of Ottawa, Darlene Izzard, New Glasglow; Rosella(Susie), Toronto, Brothers, John “Bimbo” (Sharon) Blenn(Oriole) Lloyd, all of Calgary; David, Floyd both of Halifax Special daughter, Kionna(“K”), Special sisters, Marie Myna Jackson, Lana Powell, Crystal Williams, Bridgette Monroe,Harrietta Brown, Angela Cain; Special brother, Carlos Carvery, Granddaugthers, Araza, Azima, Adanini Ukonga;
Many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles. She was predeceased by grandparents, Edward Carvery, Sr. and Rosella(Sparks) Carvery; grandparents Daniel and Marjorie Dixon Izzard; uncles, Carson Izzard, Daniel “Pool” Izzard; aunts Marie (Izzard) Gabriel; brother, James Edward Carvery; sister Paula Carvery; Glenda “ Mathy” Carvery; nephews, Jaumar Carvery, Lydell (Willis) Carvery. Visitation is held 7-9pm on Friday May. 19th ,2017 at Cruikshank’s Funeral Home with Bishop Joyce Robart officiating the funeral service on May.20th at 1:00pm.
Interment will be in Oakridge Cemetery, Lower Sackville NS. Donations may be made to Africville Community Center(www.africvillecommunitycenter.org)
