Turner, Rose Marie, age 84. It is with deep sadness that the family of Rose Marie Turner of Gaetz Brook, NS announces her passing on Monday, Oct. 12, 2015 at Twin Oaks Memorial Hospital, Musquodoboit Harbour.
Rose was born in 1931 in Port Maitland, NS to the late Flora (Adams) and Henry Frederick Alchorn. Rose’s first and foremost object since the day of her marriage and arrival of children was to be a devoted and loving wife and mother. Her son-in-law and two daughters not only became members of our family but were also considered by her to be her own children and considered as such. Her example was passed to her family, who all have the same love and concern for one another. Rose was known by all who knew her as a gentle, beautiful, caring and supportive friend.
She is survived by her husband of 66 years, Harry Turner; her daughter, Rosemary (Carl) Philpitt of Porter’s Lake, NS; her sons, Harry (Denise) of Quispamsis, NB and Paul (Cathy) of Gaetz Brook, NS; her grandchildren, Stephen, Lisa, Jennifer, Craig, Courtney and Matthew; 9 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great grandson; and her sisters, Joan (Fred) Turley of Halifax and Betty (Paul) Bennette of Michigan, USA.
Rose was predeceased by her sister, Isobelle Hunt; her brothers, William, Frederick, Charles and Albert and her great-grandson, Owen Deveaux.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 15, 2015 at 2pm from St. Barnabas Church, Head of Chezzetcook, NS with Rev. Kyle Wagner officiating. Burial will take place at St. Barnabas Cemetery following the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
During her long illness, the Birches Nursing Home became the closest thing to a real home and Rose early on became very close to several of the staff and fellow residents.
