

REGAN, Sheila Mary, 96, of Halifax, slipped away peacefully on December 18, 2015 in the QEII Health Sciences Centre Halifax Infirmary Site. Born in Halifax she was the last remaining member of her immediate family. She was predeceased by her father, John W. Regan; mother, Helen Miriam (Mitchell) Regan; three brothers, J. Brian Regan, Halifax, Francis “Frank” Regan, Hamilton, ON and Noel Regan, Halifax.
Sheila is survived by her 7 nephews and nieces and numerous grand, great grand -nieces and nephews and one great great-grandniece, five generations in all.
She attended school in Halifax and graduated from St. Bernard’s Convent in Antigonish in 1936. Sheila worked for the Dept of National Defense (Dockyard) for 35 years. She was a decoder and special supervisor in telecommunications. Sheila lived in Halifax and resided at Northwood for the past 35 years. She was a regular at special events and various activities.
She volunteered on several boards and committees and attended church services of any and all denominations. Sheila embraced life with such enthusiasm, cheerfully greeting everyone she met. She loved animals and family get togethers , knitting, gardening and her cottage in Seabright. Sheila made innumerable charitable donations.
Sheila participated and attended several churches especially the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Tantallon. Sheila often reminisced about the visits to her Aunt Rose and Uncle Walter’s family in Windsor.
Special thanks to the EMS attendants, the dedicated staff of the ER and 8.4 Palliative Care Unit. Also special thanks to Dr. Kenneth Rockwell for his kind support, empathy and assistance during her final transition. Sheila will be missed by all her family and friends especially Mary Dubois whose daily visits brightened her day.

Visiting will be Sunday, December 20 at 2-4 pm and 7-9 pm in Cruikshank Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor Street, Halifax. Funeral Service will be in Blessed Mother Teresa of Calcutta Church, 6032Normandy Drive, Halifax, on Tuesday, December 22 at 11 am, Fr. Andrew Rembarczyk officiating. Burial to follow in St. Augustine Church Cemetery, Simms Settlement, NS.
