Silvia Bortignon

Bortignon, Silvia, 73, of Halifax passed away Sunday, November 15, 2015 at home surrounded by her loving family. Born in Fossalunga, Treviso, Italy she was the daughter of the late Giacomo Piva and Letizia Pozzobon.

She immigrated to Canada in January 1965 and married Sante Bortignon on February 13 of the same year. She recently celebrated 50 years of marriage to her devoted husband . An avid gardener and ‘the best Italian cook around’ it has been said ‘she made dandelions taste good’.

Silvia was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend. She was dearly loved by her husband Sante, children Emanuela and Giacomo, son-in-law John, daughter-in-law Anita, grandchildren Dante, Giuliana, Isabella and Gregory, and family and friends everywhere. She will be deeply missed.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated 11 am Tuesday, November 24, 2015 at Saint Catherine of Siena Parish, 6476 Bayers Rd, with Rev. Francesco Pirisi officiating. Burial to Follow in Oakridge Memory Gardens. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
