She was predeceased by her husband John, who passed December 10, 2015, her son, John, her parents and three bothers.
She spent her career with the federal government, working at DND Dockyards in Halifax. She was a strong, feisty woman and met life’s challenges head on, with a personality that was a force to be reckoned with.
Surviving are her three daughters, Barbara (Brian) Strangward, JoAnn (Ken) Savary, Catherine Shanks, son in law Kevin Shanks, her grandchildren, Colin, Corinne, John, Anthony, and Murphy Marie, and six great grandchildren. Two sisters, Sandra (Dan Snow), and Louise (Roy Rogers) and many nieces and nephews.
They say there is a fine line between love and hate, something only few can understand. Soney and Johnny walked it for 61 years, even death could not separate them.
Cremation has taken place, and a memorial service will be held on Wednesday, January 6 at 1pm from Cruikshank's Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Halifax.
