

Victor Gerald Marchand of Colonsay, SK passed away peacefully at home on January 21, 2018. Victor was born on September 25, 1947, the eldest son of Gerald & Lucy Mae Marchand in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
He was raised in Petit de Grat, Cape Breton, NS where he grew up playing and eventually coaching baseball. At the young age of 13, Victor started working as a fisherman and when he was 21, started working as an insulator until 1987, when a workplace accident occurred and he became disabled and unable to continue working.
Victor’s greatest joy in life was spending time with his wife Faye and their children. He loved hunting, fishing, and coaching baseball. He never missed any of his sons hockey or baseball games. Anyone that knew Victor, knew that he liked to tell stories. Victor wanted everyone to know everything about him and his kids, and he made sure that everyone knew how proud he was of them.
Victor will be sadly remembered by his children Dean (Angie), Lorne (Kristen), Wayne (Paulette), & Phoebe (Dion); grandchildren Amber, Deano, Beckie, Alexis, Austin, Brett, Kailyn, Corina, Cheyenne, Matthew, Makayla, & Brayden; great-grandchildren Nevaeh, Treyson, Autumn, Cordel, Bentley, Bentleah, & Jaxson; sisters Lillian, Gloria, Shirley, Ruth (Allan), Lorna; brothers Darren, Clifford (Gail), & Allison; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, in-laws, & friends.
Victor was predeceased by his wife Faye, his parents Gerald & Lucy Mae, brother Howard, sister Darlene, & daughter-in-law Tracy.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to any charity of your choice.
Visitation will be held Thursday February 8, 2018 from 2-4 and 7-9 in Cruikshank’s Halifax Funeral Home, 2666 Windsor St. Mass will be held in St Benedict Parish on Friday February 9, 2018 at 10:30 am. Burial to follow in Oakridge Memorial Gardens.
