Matheson, Vida H. of Halifax passed away peacefully on September 8, 2014, in the Halifax Infirmary, QEII. Born in Halifax, she was the daughter of the late George and Edythe (Weir) Tanner. She was a Registered Nurse by profession having trained at the Halifax Children’s Hospital and University of Toronto School of Nursing. She worked for many years with the VON in Halifax and Amherst, and also the Provincial Department of Health as a nursing supervisor in Bridgewater and Dartmouth. Vida retired after 20 years’ service with Sears Canada. She was a founding member of the Nova Scotia Kidney Foundation. She was also an active member of Fairview United Church. She is survived by her loving daughter Heather Fougere of Halifax; three beautiful grandchildren; Chelsea, Haley, and Cameron, whom she cherished. Vida was predeceased by her husband Alex; son, David, sisters, Barbara and Arras.
There will be no visitation. A graveside service will be held Saturday, September 13, 2014, at 1 p.m. in Fairview Cemetery. Following the service there will be a reception at the family home. Donations may be made to the Kidney Foundation or Fairview United Church Benevolent Fund. Special mention to Irene Clark and family, Calgary; niece, Bonnie, Arizona; her many cousins in England, Henrietta Hood and all of her beloved relatives in Westville.
