

Anita Marie Coon, age 69 of Hamilton, Ohio passed away peacefully October 4, 2025. Anita was born September 1, 1956 in Louisville, Ky to her mother the late Imogene Franklin Cooley and her father the late Nicholas “Nick” Herbst. Her late step-father, L.Z. Cooley was also involved in Anita’s upbringing. Also preceding her in death are her maternal grandparents Lawrence and Nancy Franklin, paternal grandparents Nicholas and Mary Elizabeth Herbst; several aunts, uncles and her beloved dogs Cocoa, Princess, Molly, Oreo and Muffin.
Anita leaves to cherish her memory, by her sister Bonnie (Paul) Wolfensperger and step-sister Cindy (Joe) Redmond. Also surviving are her step-nephews David and Jacob Redmond and step great nieces and nephews and many cousins.
She graduated from Waterford Twp. High School, Pontiac, MI and was married in 1974. Soon after, she moved to Georgia for several years then moved to Louisville, Ky where she was a Human Resource manager for Walmart. She then moved to Pekin, Indiana and had an Amish Country Store built in Rosebud, IN, an Amish Community. Anita owned and operated the Amish store for many years until she decided to have a bakery built on her own property. She baked a large variety of baked goods and took them to area trade shows. She did this for several years until she moved to Cincinnati in 2004 to live near her family. Once in Cincinnati she rented a bakery and continued her baking until she retired. In addition to her baking, she was also an excellent cook. She was always very creative with arts and crafts and was an accomplished seamstress. Anita loved going to Lake Cumberland KY, where her grandparents lived, there she enjoyed swimming, boating, fishing and spending time with her family. She loved animals of all kinds. She never met a stranger and made friends easily. Anita was loved and will be greatly missed. She is now at peace in Heaven with no more pain.
Anita's family will receive family and friends at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 2565 Princeton Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45011 Thursday, October 23 starting at 11:00 am, followed by a memorial service at 11:30 am with Pastor Cecil Day presiding. Following services, Anita will be interred in Rose Hill Burial Park.
