Betty Jane Thiel

Age 91 of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday January 5, 2016 at Westover Retirement Community. She was born in Hamilton on April 9, 1924, the daughter of the late Frank and Betty Matilda (Todd) Brown. On October 5, 1943 she married Robert Herman Thiel and he preceded her in death on June 6, 2001. Betty was a graduate of Hamilton High School and worked as a school secretary at Garfield and Taft High Schools. She was a homemaker, mother and grandmother who loved her family deeply and enjoyed reading and travel. Betty is survived by her daughter Janet (Duke) Baker; daughter-in-law Lisa (Laurin) Thiel Sprague; four grandchildren, Joshua (Niki) Baker, Justin (Jennifer) Baker, Andrew (Kylie) Thiel and Alex (Megan) Thiel; great grandchildren, Jacob Baker, Isabella Baker, Annie Thiel, and Madeline Thiel. She was also preceded in death by her son, David Frank Thiel; brother Roy Brown; sisters, Theodicia King, May Schwenn and Grace Nicholson. Private services will be held at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home with Pastor Dan Clemens officiating. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her memory to Westover Retirement Community, 855 Stahlheber Road, Hamilton, Ohio 45013 or First Baptist Church, 1501 Pyramid Hill Blvd, Hamilton, Ohio 45013. The family extends special thanks to Westover Retirement Community staff for their dedicated can and to her caregivers, especially Norma Evans. While at Westover, she was active in art and music activities.
