On August 12, 2026, a wonderful reunion took place as Bobby W. Farthing, age 80 of Hamilton, OH., entered his eternal home. He is survived by his loving wife Sharon (Watkins) Farthing, his children, Bobby (Tricia) Farthing, Sheila (Danny) Williams, Tracey (Tim) Mikesell, Sheressa White, 11 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren.
A host of family that preceded him in death welcomed him home, including, his father and mother Ed and Mary Farthing along with 6 sisters and 5 brothers. Bobby was born and raised in Irvine, KY where he graduated high school. Bobby then went on to proudly serve his county as an Armored Radio Specialist with the 2nd Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 2nd Armored Division stationed at Fort Hood, Texas. During his military service he was deployed to Thailand in support of operations in Vietnam. He served with honor, courage and unwavering dedication as he carried out his duties with pride and commitment to his country.
After his time was completed in the Army, Bobby then went on to have a long career working as a Supervisor for Southwest Ohio Steel and International Paper Co. He also loved carpentry work and was often affectionately referred to by family as “Bob the builder”. Bobby lived a life dedicated to God and his family. He also loved to sing and play the guitar and would often play and sing one of his favorite songs The Lighthouse in church.
Bobby was truly a one-of-a-kind man. He leaves a legacy of kindness, gentleness and unconditional love that is remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him. This is not written as a “goodbye” as we know this separation is only temporary. Instead, let this be a gentle reminder to all that read that this is not the end Bobby’s story. For one day we will be united with him again in the presence of our Savior. Until that day, we will hold close the precious memories that he filled our lives with knowing we will see him again.
Services for Bobby will be held on Wednesday, August 19th 2026, at Rose Hill Funeral Home 2565 Princeton Rd Hamilton, OH 45011. Visitation will begin at 11am followed by a Celebration of Life at 12p.
