

Age 89 of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday November 12, 2011 at his residence. He was born on April 29, 1922 in McKinney, Kentucky the son of the late Eldridge and Alma Louise (Wright) Rymer. On May 14, 1943 in Hamilton he married Irene M. Bowman and she preceded him in death on December 2, 1996. Charlie served during WWII in the U.S. Navy and was stationed at Guadalcanal in the Solomon Islands from 1943 to 1945 on the ship LCT 481. He was lost at sea for 3 weeks in enemy territory during that time. After returning, he worked as an Automotive Electrician at Savage Auto Supply for 47 years, retiring in 1984. He was the owner and operator of Rymer Radio and TV Repair. Charlie was a member of the Butler County Amateur Radio Club, he traveled to Washington D.C. by RV in 2010 with the Honor Flight of Dayton. His hobbies included building electronics, tinkering with cars, collecting antique radios, amateur radio communications, computers and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charles is survived by his three daughters, Darlene Ranger-Smith (Kenneth) of Mechanicsburg, PA, Linda Rymer-Brunner of Liberty Township and Tammie Sturgill (Jeffery) of Hamilton. He was blessed with seven grandchildren, Timothy Brunner (LaTonya) of Trenton, Joseph Brunner of Liberty Township, Julia Rogers (Gordon) of Collinsville, Amy Roth (Steven) of Annville, PA, Joshua Sturgill (Heather) of Petersburg, KY, Noah Sturgill and Sarah Sturgill-Back (Richard) of Hamilton; special niece Wilma Combs of Las Vegas, NV; 15 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and special friends, Jackie and Jim Paragin, John and Delores Cole, Andy and Denise Hubbard and Donna Pugh, all of Hamilton. He was also preceded in death by six brothers and sisters, Doris Hehl, Alma Keller, James Rymer, Howard Rymer, Jim Rymer and Daisy May Rymer. Funeral ceremony will be held at 10:00 AM on Wednesday November 16, 2011 at the Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions can be made in his memory to Children’s Hospital Medical Center of Cincinnati, Ronald McDonald House Charities of Cincinnati, Make-A-Wish Foundation, St. Jude’s Medical Center or Honor Flight of Dayton.
