Clarence J. Griffith

Clarence J. Griffith, age 99, of Hamilton, passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2012 at Mercy Franciscan at Schroder. He was born in Spears, Kentucky on April 17, 1913, the son of the late Robert Marshall and Anna Lisa (Walker) Griffith. On June 13, 1936 in Newport, Rhode Island, Clarence married his wife, Margaret (Corey) Griffith, and they enjoyed fifty-one wonderful years together until her passing on December 22, 1987. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, a member of the Plantsville Congregational Church in Connecticut, and a member of Friendship #33 A.F. & A.M. in Southington, Connecticut. Clarence is survived by his two daughters, Mary Ann (William) Barbier and Carol “CJ” Couto; seven grandchildren, Catherine, Scott, Sharon, Andrea, Mark, Todd and Stacie; eight great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; brothers, Lee and Marshall; and sisters, Christine and Dora. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 23, 2012 at 6pm at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton with Pastor Larry Uczen officiating. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 4pm until the time of the service at the funeral home. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made in Clarence’s name to Shriners Hospitals for Children, 3229 Burnet Avenue, Cincinnati, Ohio 45229.
