Cynthia L. Bowen, age 70, of Cincinnati, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026. Born on November 10, 1955, Cynthia was the beloved daughter of Earl Wenzel and Emily Wenzel. She grew up alongside her brothers, Gary Wenzel (married to Carol) and Terry Wenzel. With a curious, quick mind, she pursued higher education and earned a bachelor's degree in special education from Eastern Kentucky University.
She devoted her career to serving young learners as a School teacher at Greener Elementary. In the classroom and beyond, she was known for her steady generosity of spirit and a cleverness that could meet each day with practical wisdom and thoughtful perspective.
In her personal life, Cindy found happiness in simple pleasures and lively pastimes—shopping QVC, working puzzles, enjoying video games, and taking road trips. Among her cherished travels was a 2017 trip to the Grand Canyon, a memory that reflected her appreciation for seeing and experiencing more of the world.
For 26 years, Cindy shared marriage with her husband, John. She was a loving mother to her son, Kyle, and welcomed his wife, Rebecca, as part of the family. She took great joy in her grandchildren, Carly and Dexter, and held them close with enduring pride and affection.
Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Earl and Emily Wenzel.
She is survived by her beloved husband, John Bowen; son, Kyle Ashcraft, and his wife, Rebecca; grandchildren, Carly Ashcraft and Dexter Ashcraft; her brothers, Gary Wenzel (Carol) and Terry Wenzel.
Cynthia’s legacy lives on in the love she gave so freely, the inquisitive intelligence she brought to everyday life, and the sharp, spirited presence those closest to her will long remember.
A Celebration of Life service for Cynthia will be held at a later date.
