
Daniel E. Tyson, age 90 of Hamilton passed away at Westover Retirement Community on Monday, February 13, 2012. He was born in Hamilton on May 17, 1921 the son of Vernon and Gertrude (Weiland) Tyson. Daniel was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II from 1942 to 1945. He was employed as a drum operator and in paper tinting for Champion Paper Company for 32 years, retiring in 1984. Daniel was a lifetime member of VFW Post #7670, American Legion Post #194, Middletown Sportsmen Club, NRA, Ducks Unlimited, and was a Kentucky Colonel. On July 22, 1950 in Hamilton, he married Joan R. Bennett.
He is survived by his wife, Joan R. Tyson of Hamilton; four children, Vickie Day of Hamilton, Cheryl Hellman of Lebanon, Lisa (Jim) Stricker of Hamilton, and Donna (Jim) Steiner of Columbus; nine grandchildren, Shane (Yva) Day, Emily (Jon) Nutley, Tyson (Kristen) Hellman, Jarrod (Krissy Huesing) Stricker, Clinton, Heath, and Hannah Stricker, and Samantha and Philip Steiner; and three great-grandchildren, Seamus, Addison, and Taylor.
Family and friends are invited to attend Mass of Christian Burial at St. Peter in Chains Church, 382 Liberty Avenue, today, Wednesday at 10:00 AM. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park. Visitation will be held at the church today from 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM.
