

Delmer R. Smith, 83, of Liberty Township, passed away Tuesday, August 30. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mary Carol Smith in 2012 and his son, Randy Smith in 1985. Delmer is survived by his daughter, Caroll (Kyle) Higgason; grandchildren, Jack, Caroline and Weston as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. He proudly served in the U.S. Air Force as a radio operator in the forerunner to the U2 spy plane during the Korean War. After his service to his country, he earned his Juris Doctor Degree at Northern Kentucky University. Delmer was musically talented and played the piano and saxophone. He and his dear wife were married for 54 years before her passing. Delmer loved watching his son play basketball and was an avid fan of the University of Kentucky Wildcats. He also loved watching his grandkids perform in their extracurricular activities. Most importantly, Delmer had a strong faith in God and loved his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. The family will receive friends at the Ivey Funeral Home, 2565 Princeton Rd, Hamilton on Friday, September 2, from 6pm until 8pm. Funeral services will take place at the funeral home on Saturday, September 3, at 11am. Interment will follow at Rose Hill Burial Park, Hamilton.
