Eugene Browning, age 86 of Columbus, Indiana, formerly of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, March 25, 2014. He was born on January 17, 1928 in Hamilton, the son of the late Lawrence and Lida (Finley) Browning. On April 3, 1948, Eugene married his wife of over 65 years, Rose Thompson, in Hamilton. He was a longtime employee of Mosler Safe Company and then went on to open Post-Browning, Inc. with his business partner, Lou Post. In recent years, Eugene and his wife had attended First United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Rose; children, Claudia (Dennis) Shafer, Cathy (Dennis) Oakes and Gene R. (Linda Brown) Browning; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. Eugene was preceded in death by his parents; and brother, Jack V. Browning. Funeral The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Our Hospice of South Central Indiana, 2626 E. 17th Street, Columbus, Indiana 47201.
