

Gerald (Jerry) Jones of Fairfield, died at the age of 90 years old. He was born on January 4, 1936, to the union of Herman and Marjorie (Fitzgerald) Jones. Early in his life, Jerry and his sister, Janet, were taken in by their maternal grandparents, James and Rosa Fitzgerald, and raised in their blended family. Jerry always considered that a special blessing.
Jerry was educated in the Hamilton City School District. He worked as an electrician out of IBEW Local 648 for 50 years and in the maintenance department of Fairfield City School District for ten and a half years.
Jerry served four years in the U.S. Navy, was a member of The American Legion, a life member of Amvets #71, and a life member of VFW #1069, where he served a term as commander. Jerry was immensely proud to be a veteran.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his loving wife, Betty Jones; son, Gerald E. (Lisa) Jones, Jr. of Fairfield Township; sister, Janet (Pete) Palmerson of Los Altos, California; grandson, Andrew (Akiko) Jones of Columbus, Ohio; granddaughter, Sherri Stilkey of Nevada; and numerous great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandson. Other family members who will cherish his memory include Dottie (Charlie) Spurlock and children, Ellen (Jan) Randall, Mike (Lisa) Dubin and children, Martin Durbin, of Deerfield Beach, Florida, and children. In the year 2004, Jerry and his wife brought into their home to raise his step-grandchildren, Kayla (Ricky) Bates, Tari Eliton, and Anjalisa (Aaron) Revel.
Graveside services will be held at Rose Hill Burial Park, 2421 Princeton Rd., Hamilton, OH 45011 on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, beginning at 12:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate charitable donations to either the Butler County Animal Humane Society or VFW post 1069.
