

Gilbert A. “Goldberg” McGoldrick, age 72 of Hamilton, passed away at his home on Saturday October 22, 2011. He was born in Lexington, Kentucky on July 9, 1939 the son Robert Linlee and Mildred Mae (Moberly) McGoldrick. On December 30, 1960 he married Carol S. McDaniel in Lexington, KY. Gil was a 1957 graduate of Lafayette High School, Lexington, KY and in 1971 he earned his B. S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Kentucky. Gil was a member of Tau Beta Pi and Pi Tau Sigma honor societies. In 1960 he joined the Square D Company, and held various positions including; Draftsman, Design Engineering Manager, Chief Engineer, and Sr. Research and Development Engineering Manager. He retired in 2002 following 42 years service. Mr. McGoldrick was a member of the National Electrical Manufacturers Assn., the American Society of Mechanical Engineers, and was the North American representative for NEMA on the International Electrotechnical Commission. Mr. McGoldrick was an inventor and held numerous patents. Gil enjoyed raising thoroughbred horses, woodworking, his farm and the outdoors, and being with his family. He was a member of South Elkorn Baptist Church in Lexington. Gil is survived by his mother, Mildred McGoldrick; his wife of over 50 years, Carol S. McGoldrick; his two sons, Dale (Diana) McGoldrick and Keith (Amy) McGoldrick; five grandchildren, Danielle, Dane, Amanda, Justin, and Drake; and many close friends. Visitation will be held Wednesday, Oct. 26th from 5 to 7 PM at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, 240 Ross Ave., Hamilton, Ohio 45013; followed by funeral services on Thursday Oct. 27th at 10:00AM with Pastor J. C. Collins officiating. Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Park, 2089 Versailles Rd., Lexington, Ky. 40504 on Thursday at 2:30 PM with Pastor Tommy Howard officiating.
