OBITUARY

James Lee Dickerscheid

June 1, 1928September 13, 2019

James Lee Dickerscheid, of Florence, Alabama went to be with his Heavenly Father on Friday, September 13, 2019. The son of Karl Louis Dickerscheid and Mary Leona Dickerscheid, he was born on June 1, 1928 in Hamilton, Ohio. He graduated from Hamilton High School in 1946 before attending the University of Cincinnati and receiving a degree in Chemical Engineering. On July 26, 1952 he married Janet Darleen Bauer and enjoyed 64 joyful years of marriage until her death in 2016. Jim worked for Champion Paper in 1947 while still in college. Upon graduating, he joined the Research Department until being selected in 1959 to join a small group and start a pulp mill in Moji Guacu, San Paulo, Brasil. After serving in this capacity for 18 months, Jim returned to the United States to serve in various other roles in the company including Project Manager before moving to Florence, Alabama in 1969 where he served as Supervisor of the Environmental Section of the Technical Department and Energy Mill Coordinator. He retired from Champion Paper in August 1990. He is survived his son Paul Bauer Dickerscheid (Sherry), daughter Ann Dickerscheid Zarzour (Peyton), grandchildren Michael Dickerscheid (Susan), Jason Dickerscheid (Mandy), Meagan Dickerscheid, Morgan Dickerscheid, Neal Zarzour (Jessica) , Barton Zarzour (Amy), Ashley Zarzour (George), Hannah Zarzour, and great grandchildren M.J. Dickerscheid, Taylor Dickerscheid, Logan Dickerscheid, Payton Zarzour, Zeke Zarzour, George Zarzour, and Pierce Zarzour as well as sister-in-law Mary Louise Dickerscheid and nephew Dwight Dickerscheid (Lynn). He is preceded in death by his wife Janet Darleen Dickerscheid and his brother Ralph Dickerschied. Jim was an active member of Our Redeemer Lutheran Church and served on the church board as a trustee for many years. He thoroughly enjoyed exercising at the Florence YMCA, playing golf with friends, woodworking, and gardening. Jim was an inspiration to all who knew him, and he will be greatly missed by all whose lives he blessed. The family would like to thank Community Care Hospice for their help and loving care. Visitation will be held at Our Redeemer Lutheran Church in Florence, Alabama on Sunday, September 15, 2019 at 2:00 with a service following at 3:00 Graveside services will be held at 11am on Thursday September 19, 2019 at Rose Hill Burial Park in Hamilton, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Our Redeemer Lutheran Church or the YMCA Building Fund. Condolences may be left for the family at www.Webb-Noonan.com
