Jim lived a life grounded in loyalty, hard work, and quiet devotion to those he loved. A U.S. Air Force veteran who served during the Vietnam era, he carried the discipline and steadiness of his service with him throughout his life.
Jim was deeply proud of his academic and professional achievements. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Cincinnati and a master's degree in education from Xavier University. He went on to serve as Vice President of Organizational Development for Roto-Rooter, where he worked for 19 years before retiring. His leadership, work ethic, and commitment to developing others were hallmarks of his career.
He had a warm sense of humor that put others at ease, a genuine love of travel, and a lifelong curiosity that kept him learning, exploring, and engaging with the world well into his later years.
Jim is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Phyllis Taylor, who cared for him with patience, dedication, and deep compassion throughout his illness; his son Jim Taylor and Jim's husband, Jeffrey Martin; and his daughter, Cherie Hellmann. He is also survived by four grandchildren who brought immense joy to his life; Taylor, Alex, Emily, and Jack Hellmann. He is further survived by his former wife and the mother of his children, Martha (Marty) Taylor. He is also remembered by numerous in-laws, whose support meant so much throughout his illness, as well as by many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.
He will be remembered for his steady kindness, his gentle spirit, and the legacy of love he leaves behind.
A private memorial will be held for immediate family. A celebration of life will be announced at a later date. In lieu of flowers, charitable donations may be made to The Alzheimer's Association or a charity of one's choice.
