Janice R Blum

Janice Rebecca Harmon Densmore Blum was born on June 5, 1939, in Jefferson County, Kentucky. Janice, a devoted mother, a loyal friend to countless, and the cherished matriarch of a deeply loved family, passed away peacefully at StoryPoint in Fairfield, Ohio, at the age of 87.

After attending the University of Cincinnati, Janice served as the front office clerk for 16 years at Fairfield High School (now Creekside Middle School) until her retirement in 1995. As the welcoming heart of the building, she dedicated her career to supporting staff and students alike. During her tenure, she also mentored young athletes on and off the court as the girls' tennis coach. A lifelong reader, Janice possessed a sharp mind and curiosity that stayed with her throughout her life.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 55 years, Richard L. Blum Sr. Together, they shared a lifetime of adventure. In 1996, Janice and Richard moved to Lady Lake, Florida, joining the earliest residents of The Villages, where they lived until 2022. They also cherished their timeshare in Fort Myers, where they established a wonderful community of friends. True sports enthusiasts, they were longtime, faithful attendees of the Cincinnati Open (formerly the ATP/Western & Southern Open) tennis tournament, and they enjoyed years of travel that included many memorable cruises.

Janice’s legacy lives on through the family she loved so dearly. She was the loving mother of Jeff (Kim) Densmore, Laura Shelton, Paula (Mark) Beers, and Richard Blum Jr. She also leaves behind a proud inheritance of 11 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren, who brought immense joy to her life, and is survived by her beloved sister, Sandra (Roy) Hatten, niece, Danielle Fisher, and nephew, David Hatten.

A celebration of life will be held for immediate family.
