Joe R. Hobson, age 80 of Hamilton, passed away at his residence on Thursday, August 27, 2026. He was born on May 27, 1946 in Melvin, KY, the son of the late Charlie and Bessie (Howell) Hobson. On September 6, 1968 in Hamilton, Joe married his wife of 51 years, Sharon Ann (Larrison) Hobson, who preceded him in death on September 27, 2019. He was a proud US Army veteran who served during Vietnam. He retired from Champion paper after 42 years, and finally quit his job at Pizza Chef the end of last year after 35 years. Joe is survived by his children, Christina (John Johnson) Morrison and Jeffrey Hobson; grandchildren, Drake Hobson, Destiny (Dustin Coldiron) Smith, Dakota Hobson, Andrew Hobson, and Jeremiah Johnson; great-grandchildren, Charlie Smith, Avery Coldiron, and Haven Coldiron; brother, Larry Elliot; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Charlie and Bessie; his wife, Sharon; and his siblings, Robert Lee, Viola, Vadna, Forrester, Opal, Burton, John, Ken, and Donnie. A Visitation will be held from 11am until 1pm on Friday, September 4, 2026 at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton. A Funeral Service will begin at 1pm on Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Mark Tincher officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow in Rose Hill Burial Park.
