John A Sykes

John A. Sykes, 88, of Maumee, OH, formerly of Hamilton, OH passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2017 after being diagnosed with Leukemia just 10 days prior. He was born in Trout, WV, Greenbrier County on October 18, 1928: son of the late Alvin and Gladys (Nunley) Sykes. John is survived by his wife, Lois Earlene (Miller) Sykes who he married on October 28, 1949. He had one daughter Rhonda (Sykes) Bonine, who preceded him in death on July 31, 2002. John is survived by one sister, JoAnn (Kenna) Judy of Charleston, WV, two brothers, Donald (Juanita) Sykes of Fairfield, OH and Jerry (Lois) Sykes of Penn Valley, CA and many nieces and nephews. John held many different jobs throughout his life. He retired from Pease of Fairfield after 30 years. John was proud to say he served as a Marine. He was a graduate of Williamsburg High School. John was a member of the St. Clair Baptist Church where he had been a deacon. Visitation will be held from 1pm to 2pm on Saturday, July 8, 2017 with funeral services starting at 2 pm at Ivey Funeral Home At Rose Hill Burial Park, 2565 Princeton Rd Hamilton, OH 45011, with Reverent Dr. Tyrone Choate officiating. In lieu of flowers consider St. Jude's Children's Hospital or The Cancer Society.
