Our loving dad, age 88, passed away peacefully in his home on January 12, 2013 surrounded by his family. Joe lived in Wilmington most of his life but had recently moved to Fairfield to be closer to his family. Joe was a World War II veteran who served in the US Navy. He worked much of his life as a sheet metal worker/layout man and later owned and operated his own heating, air conditioning and electrical business in Wilmington. Joe achieved his goal of early retirement, and moved to his property along Straight Creek at the Ohio River. After deciding that perhaps early retirement just wasn’t for him, he and his wife, Ann, enjoyed traveling to different states in their motor home while working temporarily as a bench layout man with sheet metal. Before moving back to their home at the Community Commons in Wilmington, Joe and Ann loved their retirement village home life in Tavares, FL at the River Rest Community. Joe is survived by his wife, Ann; and three children, Bob Burgel and his wife Jean of Hamilton, Patty King and her husband Curt of Crittenden, KY and Tim Burgel and his wife Louise of Richmond, VA. He is also survived by five grandchildren, Jennifer, Brad, Matt, Renee and Chris; nine great-grandchildren, Raven, LaShea, Hunter, Nathan, Matthew, Landon Joe, Andrew, Jackson and Brianna; and his sister, Mary Lucille. Joe was preceded in death by his brother, George. Graveside Services will be held at Clinton County Memory Gardens, 1628 Center Road, Wilmington on Saturday, January 19, 2013 at 1 pm. It is with great sorrow that we convey the passing of our amazing father. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Heartland Hospice, 3800 Red Bank Road, Suite D, Cincinnati, OH 45227.
