Karen Waldo, born April 22, 1947, in Enid, Oklahoma, passed away on August 24, 2026. She spent most of her life in Hamilton, Ohio, where she built a life filled with family, friendship, compassion, and service to others.
Karen was a loving wife to her husband, Thomas Waldo, and a devoted mother to her four children, Tina Lainhart, Jake Lofty, Tonya Michael, and Toni Langevin. Her family continued to grow over the years, blessing her with 12 grandchildren and 9 greatgrandchildren, who brought her tremendous love and joy.
Karen had an extraordinary heart for people. For many years, she ran a homeless shelter, dedicating herself to caring for those who were struggling and needed someone to believe in them. She welcomed people during some of the most difficult moments of their lives and treated them with compassion, dignity, and kindness. Helping others wasn't simply the work Karen did—it was a reflection of who she was.
She also cherished her friends. Karen loved her friendships deeply and was the kind of person people were naturally drawn to. She had a way of making others feel welcomed and cared for, and she was loved by everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.
Above all, Karen loved her family. The greatest legacy she leaves behind can be found in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, as well as in the countless people whose lives were made a little better because Karen was part of them.
Karen will be deeply missed by her husband, Thomas; her children, Tina, Jake, Tonya, and Toni; her grandchildren and great grandchildren; her many friends; and all those whose lives she touched throughout the years.
Her family will carry forward the love, strength, generosity, and compassion she showed throughout her life.
Karen's life was measured not simply by the years she lived, but by the people she loved, the lives she touched, and the kindness she gave so freely.
