Karla Kay Young

Karla Kay Young, age 76, of Fairfield Township, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 26, 2025, surrounded by loved ones. She was born August 16, 1949, in Mariemont, Ohio, to the late Robert Edgar and Mary Etta (Anderson) Philhower. Karla was a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend.

Karla is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Robert H. "Bob" Young; daughters Sonya (Bill) Parsons and Kari (Shayne) Shackleford; grandchildren Sydney (Brad) Skoog, Sierra Parsons, Carly (Jeramie) Connor, Taylor Parsons, and Dylan Shackleford; great-grandchildren Landyn, Rylan, and Braylen; sisters Karen (Rick) Cain and Debbie (Gene) Haas; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins, and many friends.

A proud graduate of Fairfield High School Class of 1967, Karla was active in basketball and cheerleading. She loved bowling, especially with her mother, and once bowled a high score of 299. Karla also enjoyed golf and achieved a hole-in-one. Whenever there was a dance floor, Karla and Bob were sure to be out there.

Her family will receive friends at Rose Hill Funeral Home, 2565 Princeton Road, Hamilton, Ohio, on Wednesday, December 10, starting at 10:00 am, followed by a funeral service at 12:00 pm. Karla will be laid to rest in Rose Hill Burial Park.

Karla will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who knew her.
