December 16, 1929 – August 27, 2025
LaVerne Roberta Runtz, lovingly known as “Nana,” a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother, was called home to the Lord on August 27, 2025, at the age of 95.
A woman of deep Catholic faith, LaVerne lived her life with love, humility, and devotion to her family and to God. She was the cherished wife of John “Jack” Runtz and the proud mother of Michael (Donna) Reenan, Debbie Reenan Norris, and Kim (the late David) Trotta. She now joins in eternal rest her daughters Maureen Reenan and Sheila (Kevin) Nadeau.
Nana’s greatest joy was her family, whom she guided with faith, warmth, and unwavering love. She was a beloved grandmother to Michael (Amy) Reenan, Kelly (Eric) Kroger, Jeff (Cary) Reenan, Kristin (Andy) Gardetto, Megan Norris, Nick Trotta, Lindsay (Bill) Kafiti, Zachary Nadeau, and Jessica Nadeau. She was abundantly blessed with great-grandchildren Sarah (Nick) Dardy, Andrew Reenan, Hannah (Hunter) Gongloff, Haley Kroger, Nathan Whitaker, Cameron Reenan, Julianna Reenan, Lucas Kafiti, and Mila Kafiti, and great-great-granddaughter Briella Dardy.
Her family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care given to LaVerne by her caregiver, Tomeka Groomes-Mitchell, and her resident manager, Michelle Bankhead, whose support brought comfort and peace in her later years.
LaVerne’s legacy of faith, kindness, and love will live on through all who knew her. She will be dearly missed but joyfully remembered, as her family takes comfort in knowing she is reunited with her loved ones in God’s eternal embrace.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, October 11th at Our Lady of Sorrows, 330 Lebanon Street, Monroe, Ohio 45050. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m.
