

Age 90, of Hamilton, passed away on Wednesday, June 22, 2011 at Hospice of Hamilton. She was born on September 22, 1920 in Manchester, KY to the late Chester E. and Mae (Hacker) Ledford. On August 10, 1935 in Liberty, IN Lula married her husband of over 54 years, Walter Bishop Huey, and he preceded her in death on January 9, 1990. She was a member of Hamilton West Baptist Church and was inducted into the Butler County Hall of Fame for winning the 1955 Athlete of the Year in Women’s Fast Pitch Softball while playing for Champion. Lula is survived by her daughters, Helen (Joseph) Born and Michaela Ann (Frank) Dougherty; grandchildren, Tammy Clooney, Mary Robinson, Daryle (Lisa) Heck, Kevin Patrick (Christy) Ballard and Keri (Roger) Allen; great-grandchildren, Tara Jo Born, Michael J. Born, John Nicholas Clooney, Kristina N. Heck, Joshua Bishop Ballard, Jenna Marie Ballard, Jonathan P. Ballard and Paige Whitley Allen; and sisters in law, Betty Ledford and Thelma Lunsford. She was also preceded in death by four brothers, Marvin, Gordon, Elbert and Carl. Visitation will be 9am until time of service (11am), Saturday, June 25, at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton.
