On September 1, 2022 at 3:06 PM, Micah Banning Archibald ran into the arms of Jesus. Micah was 12 years old when he died at Cincinnati Children's Hospital. Micah is survived by his Mom and Dad, Kami Jon (nee Banning) Archibald and Matthew Lee Archibald; Brother, Levi Courtright Archibald; Grandparents, Jon and Karla Banning and Dwight and Janet Archibald; Aunts, Aminda (Alex) Seymour and Rachel (Andrew) Young; Uncle, Robert (Vanessa) Archibald; Cousins, Monroe Seymour, Brantley Seymour, Alex Archibald, Amarah Young, and Liam Young. He was preceded in death by his cousin, Isaac Archibald.
Micah Banning Archibald was born on January 25, 2010. Micah was a wonderful child who loved to laugh and smile. Among his favorite pastimes was being tickled by his father and snuggled by his mother. As a curious young child, he loved school and was an excellent student at Edgewood Middle School. He also loved to learn in general, asking lots of questions about everything. He loved the great outdoors, camping and hiking as a family, and with his Cub Scout Pack 725 in Trenton, OH. He loved listening to music with his mother and they shared a lot of favorite tunes. He loved to play his Grandmother Banning’s player-piano in her basement. He was an ardent Christian who earnestly desired to love God. He was never able to lie and was honest. Micah loved his little brother Levi, and the two were best friends. They would build forts together and make cities out of Legos and trains all over the family room. They loved making piles of “fluff” using blankets and pillows and then they would both jump in them. But of all the wonderful aspects of Micah, he was best known for his love for and knowledge of trains. Micah LOVED trains.
In his short life, Micah packed in a lot of living. While on a family trip to Mexico he swam in a sacred Mayan cenote and climbed to the top of the great pyramid in Coba. He threw out the first pitch at a Dayton Dragons game on July 30, 2019. He got to camp out on the fields of both the Dayton Dragons AND the Cincinnati Reds with his Cub Scout Pack. He got to ride several steam trains (his favorite kind of train). He got to see the Mighty Mississippi, the Gateway Arch, Swim in the Atlantic Ocean and the Gulf of Mexico. He rode to the top of the Willis Tower, experienced Niagara Falls, and explored Marengo Cave. He even got to go to Chicago for a photo shoot as a model for the drug company that would help extend his life.
Micah was all of these things in spite of dealing with the challenges of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy. He was diagnosed at an early age, and as a trooper, he fought bravely against the disease. With brand new treatments, he continued to surprise doctors and beat the odds of DMD. He was still victorious over his condition right up until his death.
Micah’s life touched thousands of people while he was here on this earth. Micah will be mostly remembered for his contagious smile and laugh. In his twelve years on earth, he never had a bad day. He could always find some way to overcome a setback and laugh and smile moments later. We are grateful to have had so many great years with him and are heartbroken to miss out on so many others we might have had.
Visitation will be held at Gracepointe Nazarene Church, 220 N. Miami Street, Trenton, OH 45067 on Friday, September 16, 2022 from 5 PM - 8 PM and Saturday, September 17, 2022 from 9 AM - 11:30 AM, with a “Celebration of Life” Service following.
