Norman R. Shope

Age 74, of Hamilton, passed away at Woodlands of Hamilton on Monday, February 25, 2013. He was born in Vanceburg, Kentucky on May 11, 1938 the son of the late Sherman and Elsie (Warren) Shope. Norman was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force. Being very devoted to his family, to support them, he took employment in many trades, including being a millwright and truck driver. Norman was a member of Benjamin Franklin Lodge #719 F&AM, AMVETS Post 1983, and American Legion Post 138. On December 31, 1955 in Lawrenceburg, Indiana he married Beulah Jane Adams, who following over 56 years of marriage, preceded him in death on February 2, 2012. He is survived by his seven children, Norman (Nona) Shope Jr., David (Trish) Shope, James (Robin) Shope, Judith (Jeffrey) Strickland, Susan (Mark) Miller, Daniel (Tina) Shope, and John (Judy) Shope; 26 grandchildren; 23 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Herschel (Ruth) Shope, Glenn (Pauline) Shope, and Wilbur (Mattie) Shope; two sisters, Mickie Gabbard and Sue Shope; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy Suzanne Shope; grandson, Adam Shepherd; sister, Thelma Shope; and brother, Russell Shope. Masonic service will be held at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, 240 Ross Avenue, on Friday, March 1st at 1:00 PM followed by funeral service with Chaplain Jim Mousie officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of the service.
