

Paul C. “Buster” Fields, age 79 of Somerville, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 1, 2025 at Hospice of Hamilton. He was born on September 9, 1945 in Middletown, the son of the late Aaron and Maud Marie (Cornett) Fields. Buster was involved in many community organizations including the Grand Lodge of F&AM of Ohio, Camden Lodge No. 159, A.A.S.R. Northern Masonic Jurisdiction, USA A of the Valley Dayton since 1987, American Legion Post No. 377, Life Member of VFW Post 1577 in Camden, Moose Member of Trenton Lodge 330 since 1992, and a former Shriner. Buster served his country proudly as a US Navy Medic and was the recipient of a Bronze star medal. He was a member of the MEDCAP program during his time in Vietnam, providing medical aid to both civilians and military personnel. After returning from service, he began his career at Armco Steel/AK Steel in Middletown. He worked in the BOF lab as a Metallurgist for 30 years then retired in 1999. Buster was a husband, father, friend, musician, and artist that lived life to the fullest. He will be remembered fondly for his humor, unconditional love of his wife and children, his adventurous Harley riding days, and of course, his outstanding poker skills. He married his wife of 39 years, Sharon (Forch) Fields on September 9,1985 in Jellico, TN. Buster is survived by his wife, Sharon; children, Christine (Mark) Gephart-Vaughn, Paul (Kristen) Fields, Jennifer (James) Wolfe, and Robert (Amy) Fields; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; numerous nieces and nephews; and brother, Glenn Fields. He was preceded in death by his parents; and siblings, Kenneth Fields, David Fields, Donald Fields, and Tillie Ash. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
