News Death Notice

STURGILL, Robert H. age 78, resident of Hamilton, Ohio, passed away at home on Sunday, September 15th, 2013, at 6:32 pm, after a long battle with Alzheimer's Disease. Born in Laurel County, Kentucky on May 10, 1935. Son of Cecil and Goldia (Hicks) Sturgill. Moved to Hamilton, Ohio, at age 10. Graduated from Fairfield High School in 1955, where he lettered in Football. He later received education to become a licensed stationary fireman in 1968. He married Martha (Cornett) Sturgill on April 1, 1956. He was a Corporal in the Ohio National Guard from 1957-1960. He worked at Champion Papers as a lead engineer, and retired after 40 years of service. He was an active member of the Lord's church, and in his later years chose to worship at the East River Road Baptist Church, in Fairfield, Ohio. He is survived by his wife, Martha (Cornett) Sturgill of Hamilton, Ohio; five children: Jeffrey (Tammie) Sturgill of Hamilton, Ohio; Donna (Philip) Schellenbach of Fairfield, Ohio; Beverley (Jim) Thompson of Oxford, Ohio; Timothy Sturgill of Hamilton, Ohio; and Michael Sturgill of Columbus, Ohio; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; two siblings: Jewell (Donald) Gabbard; and Lois (Kenneth) Turman; and many beloved nieces, nephews, and in-laws. He was preceded in death by his parents: Cecil Sturgill, and Goldia (Hicks) Sturgill; a still-born baby brother, and one sister Leila-Fayne Sturgill.
