

Roy T. Howard, age 87, of Fairfield, died on Friday, November 04, 2011, at Tri-County Extended Care. He was born in Beattyville, Kentucky, on April 18, 1924, the son of the late Dillard and Priscilla (Phillips) Howard. In Hamilton, Ohio, on September 16, 1950, Roy married Elsie M. Ledford. He was a Die Cutter and Locksmith for Mosler Safe Company retiring in 1981 with 35 years of service. Roy served in the US Army during WWII receiving the Purple Heart and three Bronze Stars. He was a member of UAW Hamilton and he was an avid hunter, fisherman and gardener. Roy enjoyed watching NASCAR and baseball, especially the Reds. Roy is survived by his wife of over 61 years, Elsie; two sons, David Howard of Fairfield and Michael (Lori) Howard of Maineville; daughters Brenda (Dennis) Meyer of Fairfield, Kathy Theobald of Hamilton and Emma Blevins of Fairfield; nine grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; four brothers, Charles, James, Bill, and Brad; two sisters, Marie Johnson and Mary Grace (Ron) Barker; and numerous nieces and nephews. Roy was also preceded in death by his brothers, Allen and John Willie Howard; and three sisters, Pauline Callahan, Geraldine Geckler and Virginia “Teny” Durbin. Funeral services will be held at Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home, Ross Avenue at South “D” Street, Hamilton, at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 8, 2011. Burial with military services will follow at Millville Cemetery. Family and friends will be received from 5 – 8 pm on Monday at the funeral home.
