Steve was born on December 2nd, 1948 in Hamilton, OH to the late Jessie & Oneida Newman. Steve attended Fairfield High School where he was the quarterback, played several sports and graduated in 1967. He attended the University of Cincinnati and graduated in 1974 with a BS in Industrial Management. Steve worked at Steelcraft for 39 years, before retiring in 2009. Steve loved God, his family, and his church community. His lifelong interest in sports began in high school and continued as he coached youth sports - Jeff in baseball and Amy in soccer. When Jeff grew up, Steve loved watching him play and coach baseball himself. As long as he was physically able, Steve helped Amy with her building and renovation projects and remained closely involved even as his physical strength weakened. Perhaps his greatest joys in life were his grandchildren Evelyn & Wolfgang Yosmali; Bree, Corrine and Casey Newman; Anna and Emily Spahr; and Madelyn & Emma Spahr. He was an enthusiastic and faithful audience member at their games, matches, concerts and recitals. At home, he was an avid contestant in their many games of Sorry and Monopoly. Steve is survived by his daughter, Amy (Tim) Yosmali ; his son Jeffrey (Michelle) Newman; his wife Sharon Newman (Spahr); his stepsons, Scott (Amber) and Nathan (Brecka) Spahr; and his sisters, Phyllis Snodgrass and Debbie Walton. He is preceded in death by his parents Jessie & Oneida Newman; and his brother, Randall Newman. A Celebration of Life will be held on October 17th at 11am at the Countryside Church of the Nazarene, 1436 Deerfield Road Lebanon OH, 45036.
