September 18, 2001 – July 24, 2018
Sydney Anise Garcia-Tovar, age 16 of Hamilton, passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2018 at the UC Medical Center.
Sydney was born on September 18, 2001 in Hamilton, the daughter of Alberto and Stephanie (Huffman) Garcia-Tovar. She was a graduate of Hamilton High Class of 2018. Sydney Anise Garcia-Tovar had become such an amazing woman in such a short amount of time. Her life impacted all those around her. Sydney's friends were a big part of her life and she would do just about anything for any of them. She would be your friend regardless of your background, race, gender, etc. She was a leader - a genuine, beautiful soul who was adventurous, walked her own path and was full of life. She was outspoken and confident, never worrying what others would think of her. She knew how to make everyone feel loved and appreciated. Though we may have lost her, Sydney Anise will forever live on in every one of us. Sydney’s last act of kindness and generosity was to give the gift of life to many people in need through organ and tissue donation. Sydney is survived by her parents, siblings, Haley (Joshua Seth) Napier) Garcia-Tovar, Joaquin D. (Deja Burress) Garcia-Tovar and Waylon Carter Thacker; aunts and uncles, J. Jesus Garcia, Joaquin (Miriam Ramirez) Garcia, Fabiola Garcia, Norma (Alfredo Lopez) Garcia, Cristina (Ernesto Araunjo) Garcia, Tiffany (Tommy) Rider, Scott Huffman and Mike Huffman; nephew Joshua Cayden Napier; grandparents, Flora Tovar-Nava and Dianne Huffman, great uncle Randy “Bubby” McVey; godparents, Adrian (Guadalupe Lopez) Garcia and many cousins. She was preceded in death by great grandparents, Charles and Thelma McVey; grandfather J. Jesus Garcia-Chavez and aunt Obdulia Garcia-Tovar. Visitation will be held from 4pm to 8pm on Tuesday July 31, 2018 at the Webb Noonan Kidd Funeral Home. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10am Wednesday August 1, 2018 at St Julie Billiart Parrish. Interment will follow at Millville Cemetery. Family suggest contributions to be made in her memory to any US Bank.

I am the aunt of Sydney's heart recipient. I am so very sorry for your loss. Words cannot express the gratitude I feel for Sydney's family's decision to donate her heart that saved my niece's life. You are truly a godsend. At the time my niece received Sydney's heart her defective heart was only working at 15% as the result of chemotherapy and radiation she received for cancer at age 5. I wish I could bring Sydney back for you. My niece is also 16 years old so Sydney's heart will live on for many years. The gift you gave to so many can never be repaid but just know that with every beat of her heart we are reminded of her amazing gift. God Bless You and rest in peace sweet Sydney!
