

Loving brother of Linda Barry and Gael Smith. Beloved uncle of Neil Barry, Catherine Barry, Michael Avielle, Chloe, and Aiden and Aaron Smith. He will also be lovingly remembered by many extended family members.
He was predeceased by his parents William and Catherine Smith, sister Joyce Smith and long-time partner Michael.
Alan was born in Glasgow, Scotland and immigrated to Canada at the age of 14 with the whole family. They moved to Dundas Ontario and he lived there the majority of his life. He a very successful hairdresser and worked at a variety of salons including Eatons, Sears, and Hair Works and also as a freelancer because his services were in great demand.
Alan was very creative, artistic and talented, very musical - he played alto sax, clarinet, and oboe in the Parkside High school Band. He had a contagious sense of humour and was always dancing at every family function.
He will be greatly missed by many family and friends especially Sandra, Jennifer, Sam and Nabeel.
In accordance with his wishes, cremation has taken place. Visitation will be at the Cresmount Funeral Home, 322 Fennell Avenue East, Hamilton on Friday, November 7, 2025 from 11 am - 1 pm. Burial at Grove Cemetery, Dundas will follow.
As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated by his family.
