

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of our dear mother at Ridgeview LTC with family by her side, on December 31, 2025 in her 94th year. Loving mother of Carlo, Mary, Susan and wife of the late Emilio (2024). Cherished grandma of Chelsey (Drew), Andrea (Justin), Brandon (Jessica) and great grandmother to William John.
Loving daughter of the late Carmine and Teresa Chiola. Predeceased by her beloved siblings; Gemma, Domenico (Luigina) Chiola, Elisabetta Brandolini and Ada (Michele) Calcagni. Loving sister-in-law of the late Silvio (Vera), Giuseppe (Irma), Luigi and Eugenio Di Battista. She is survived by her sisters-in-law Antonietta and Clara and brother-in-law Vincenzo. Anna was deeply loved by her many nieces, nephews, close relatives and friends in Canada, Italy and Australia.
Anna was born in Castiglione a Casauria, Pescara, Italy in 1932 and immigrated to Canada in her early twenties. She was a devoted wife and mother to her husband and children. Her faith was her guiding light, with her rosary offering her comfort and strength throughout life’s journey. Sundays were always devoted to going to mass, sharing a meal with family and visiting with extended family and friends.
Anna expressed her love through food by cooking delicious meals, a testament to her nurturing spirit. She enjoyed sewing, knitting, and crocheting, showcasing her artistic talents. For many years, she was a cherished member of the Abruzzese Choir, sharing her love for music and community. Anna also had a deep love for travel, exploring the world with curiosity and joy.
A special thank you to the staff at Ridgeview LTC for the compassionate care they provided to our dear mother.
Her memory will be cherished by all who knew her.
Friends will be received at the MARKEY-DERMODY FUNERAL HOME, 1774 King St. E. (at Kenilworth Ave. S) on Thursday, January 8, 2026, from 3-5 pm and 6-8:30 pm. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Eugene's Church, 232 Queenston Rd. (at Parkdale Ave) on Friday, January 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. Entombment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
